Attention retirement communities!

Retirement communities are also invited to participate in this program. It is available free of charge, and we provide as many skeins of yarn as you can use!

The blankets can be made quickly, so residents love creating them. We'll pick up the completed blankets at your convenience and promptly deliver them to an area shelter.

Please e-mail Linda at info@ Comfort ForCritters.org for yarn delivery and promotional flyers for your residents.

Here's what you can do today to help these abandoned pets...

#1 Make a blanket -

If you know how to knit, crochet, sew, or just use scissors - why not start on a kitty blanket today? They're fast to make and lots of fun! Once you have a few done, you can drop them in our convenient drop-box or bring them directly to one of our participating shelters.

Just follow these simple steps for making blankets:

* Knit or Crochet a Blanket - Knit or crochet a blanket using any pattern and any color of washable yarn. Feel free to mix and match colors, and even make up your own pattern! The finished blanket should be approximately 18-inches square. If it's not perfect (who is?) that's fine with us, and the critters!  If you'd like some ideal patterns for blankets, just click below.

                        Knitting patterns

* Make a Fleece Blanket - Just use two pieces of fleece (so that it's nice and thick) - at least one piece should have a pattern, if possible. You can sew them together or cut and tie them. If they do have ties, please try to make the center (untied) portion of the blanket about 18-inches square.

#2 Donate yarn -

If you don't have the time or expertise, but do have some extra yarn (leftover from a project) or a full skein you've never gotten around to using, we can put it to good use!  Any amount, any color yarn will be gratefully accepted. We have a drop-off bin in Glen Ellyn to receive donations.

Thank you for helping us reach our

2010 goal of 3,000 blankets!

Thank you also for wanting to make a difference in the lives of these little critters. One blanket might not seem like a lot, but it will make a world of difference to one homeless pet!
